Planning.

It’s how I begin each new week and each new morning, and for 2025, I started a whole new approach to planning. (More to come.)

But for 3 very simple reasons, planning is paramount in my life. Some reasons are simply because I’m 56 now and I HAVE to write everything down or I’ll plum forget too much! But other more critical and motivational reasons are written in the pages of my Bible.

Which, this is my MacArthur Study Bible and I highly recommend it! And it’s 51% off right now!

If these 3 reasons for planning are actually applied to my life, (I DO them), I see heightened productivity, experience the sweet blessings of the Lord, and enjoy a deeper sense of personal peace.

The 3 reasons for planning ~

1. PREPAREDNESS – Go to the ant. “Go to the Ant, oh sluggard; Observe her ways and be wise.” Proverbs 6:6 – And in Proverbs 30:25, it says, “The ants are not a strong people, but they prepare their food in the summer.” These verses speak to our planning for one very important need of our lives – preparedness. Can’t stress that enough. Planning truly does equip us to move into our days and our weeks much more prepared.

2. COMMITMENT – “Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3. We even see in Proverbs 16:9 that our succeeding means the Lord directs our steps which BEGINS with planning – “The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” Start with planning/preparedness, then committing your plans & your works to the Lord. He promises to direct your every step.

3. DILIGENCE – “The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes to poverty.” Proverbs 21:5 In this context, “diligence” doesn’t mean hurriedly, it means those who energetically, steadfastly obey in doing what is noble. Diligent people plan because they long to see things done with excellence. So, trust the Lord for His answer and guidance in planning, because as you delight in Him, He gives you the desires of your heart – Proverbs 16:1, “The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.” So, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

So, MAKE PLANS! And then enjoy all that follows!
